  19. During system startup, NTLDR displays the following message about
  20. 40-50 times:
  21.  
  22.    IoAllocateAdapterChannel: Called while Adapter in use
  23.  
  24. Your system appears to start as usual after these messages appear.
  25.  
  26. CAUSE
  27. =====
  28.  
  29. The disk buffer in NTLDR is too small to store the number of hard disk
  30. drives you have on your computer.

  32. STATUS
  33. ======

  35. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT
  36. Advanced Server version 3.1. This problem was corrected in the latest U.S.
  37. Service Pack for Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. For
  38. information on obtaining the Service Pack, query on the following word in
  39. the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
